Mission and objective

The Colombian Folkloric Dance Group (BAJUCOL) was formed in 1995 to promote and preserve the Colombian culture among the youth of the growing Colombian Community of the New England area. Through education and performance BAJUCOL's mission is to foster self-esteem and discipline among youth, create an open forum of cultural exchange, and dispel the myths and misconceptions that surround the image of Colombia.
Our Objectives are:

Generate responsible adults, with teamwork capabilities and knowledge of their heritage.
Offer the community an opportunity to learn about Colombia and its folklore.
Offer cultural activities for young adults to participate in
Offer Bajucol’s members financial support to continue their post-high school education
Provide examples of structured project execution and management
Teach the members to preserve their Colombian heritage
Offer the community a channel to support young adults

Since its inception, BAJUCOL has been actively promoting the Colombian folklore throughout the United States. BAJUCOL has been recognized as the most authentic expression of Colombian folklore in the New England Area and has toured and performed throughout New England and several American cities. In addition to its annual regular dance performance, BAJUCOL also performs at elementary and high schools, colleges and universities, churches and community centers as well as festivals.
